Give that the cold weather is coming around again a question entered my mind.
Does anyone know the source of the heating. IE, if it is LV then the alternator will keep charging the battery, but if its the HV side then the range will be affected.
I look forward to hearing from people more knowledgeable than myself.

I see you posted this query back in October, but in answer to the question I don’t need to know whether it’s LV or HV what I can tell you is range is cut down by around 50 miles according to the screen readout when I turn the heater on. So No matter where the heater draws power it has a pretty big negative impact on the range. Too late for me to install a heat pump even if VW offered it as an option, but for those considering the ID.Buzz hopefully there will be an option for this.
